My name is Jessie, my pronouns are she/her and I live in London. I grew up internationally, mainly in South Asia and I have mixed heritage.
I'm a qualified psychosynthesis counsellor registered with BACP and my qualifications include:
- BSc in Psychology & Sociology
- MA in Psychoanalytic Studies
- PGDip with The Psychosynthesis Trust
- Neurodevelopmental and Auditory Practitioner, Blomberg Rythmic Movement Therapy and Yoga Teacher Training Certificates
For the last 6 years, I have also been working full time as a neurodevelopmental and auditory practitioner with children and adults with neurodiversity, academic, emotional and behavioural challenges. I’ve taught yoga for 13 years as well as hosting women’s circles and retreats. Prior to this, I was a social carer for many years and worked with with vulnerable children and adults who had a range of complex mental health difficulties and physical disabilities.
I am passionate about the connection between body, mind and spirit; particularly, how trauma expresses itself physically through the body. In my therapeutic work, I integrate somatic techniques that draw on my experience and knowledge of the nervous system. I have found these tools to be invaluable for myself and my clients particularly in the current climate of uncertainty and change.
“The body remembers, the bones remember, the joints remember, even the little fingers remember. Memory is lodged in pictures and feelings in cells themselves. Like a sponge filled with water, anywhere the flesh is pressed, wrung, even touched lightly, a memory may flow into a stream.”
Clarissa Pinkola Estés
